Printing my first chart

Post by mac schau »

I just finished my first chart. I like the program - very easy to use. I'm trying to print it, but no go. Do I need to upgrade to be able to print my work? Thanks.

You don't need to upgrade just to print. If you're not using the latest version, download and install V2.11.4. Click menu "Help/Help forum". Copy the information and post here. It includes important information about musette, windows and your default printer.

Sorry if I'm being dense but you said to copy and post "the information" at the Help Forum.
Which information? I just installed this program a couple of days ago so it should be the latest version. I re-installed MusSetup.exe several times. It sees the printer when I go to Print Setup and it will print Help pages - but not the chart. I've tried printing test pages of other charts and still no go.

We'll find a solution. I appreciate your cooperation. In Musette, click the "Help" menu. Look for "Help forum". If it's not there, please upgrade. You'll also get some new features. Load a file and click "File/Print". Click "Help forum". You'll see information about Musette, Windows, and your selected printer. Copy that information to a post here. You'll also see the complete location of a log file. Attach the log file to your post. The log file has additional information about any errors or problems while printing.

That's what I needed. Thanks. It looks like you're using a network printer, or perhaps a wireless printer that appears as a network printer. It should work but I haven't tested that recently. For a temporary fix while I'm working on duplicating the problem, you can try selecting "XPS document writer" as your printer from "File/Printer Setup". If you installed a PDF printer that creates PDF files when you print, you can use that too. This will save an XPS or PDF file that you can view and print. XPS document writer should be automatically installed in windows vista. An internet search should show several free PDF printer downloads.

I noticed that your printer is set for "landscape" (paper wider than it is tall). You might want to switch to "portrait" (taller than it is wide) for music scores.

Thanks. That worked altho I seem to be having trouble saving the final version. I'll try again in the morning when I'm thinking clearer. Thanks for your help.

V2.11.5 is ready to download from http://musettemusic.com/download.php

It fixes a problem with some network and wireless printers not being properly recognized.
