Musette files load as Finale Files - File type conflict

When I try to save a mus file it is saved as Finale Reader. ???

Musette does NOT save in Finale format. Musette uses a file type of ".mus" which some other programs also use, but the files are NOT interchangeable. Musette will not load Finale files, and as far as I know, Finale will not read Musette files. If you also have another program on your computer which also uses the ".mus" file type extension, you need to either drag and drop Musette music files on the Musette program icon, or start Musette and then click the "File/Open" menu option to load Musette files.

Here's what finally fixed the problem: I opened one of the samples files inside Musette, renamed it, closed it and opened the renamed by going to Musette/file/open.
